Daniel Ottensamer


Both as soloist and chamber musician as well as in his postition as principal clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Daniel Ottensamer performs with renowned orchestras and notable musicians in the most important concert halls throughout the world.

He is a prizewinner of several prestigious international competitions, such as the “Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition” in Denmark.

Highlights of the past years include performances with the conductors Lorin Maazel (†), Gustavo Dudamel, Andris Nelsons and Adam Fischer with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra.

As a chamber musician he has worked together with partners such as Angelika Kirchschlager, Barbara Bonney, Thomas Hampson, Bobby McFerrin, Julian Rachlin, Mischa Maisky, the Signum Quartet etc. He is member of “The Philharmonix” and one of founding members of “the clarinotts”.

2015 Daniel Ottensamer recorded his Debut CD with SONY-Classical playing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. A recording of the clarinet sonatas by Brahms and Weber has been released by Classic Concert Records. In 2016 Deutsche Grammophon released the Debut-CD of “the clarinotts”.
